1889-1945

1945 / / The cause of SIMONSWERK's crisis is the Second World War. Towards the end of the war, production stands idle. The remaining permanent staff is occupied with reconditioning buildings and machinery. The dismantling by the Allied occupying forces is a looming threat for the company's existence during these days.

1910 / / In order to provide economic security for the works, Thyssen & Co takes a stake in the company as its majority shareholder (back then the core and parent company of the Thyssen Stahl group). "H. Simons & Co." operates as SIMONSWERK GmbH henceforth.

1889 / / The 42-year-old Hugo Simons founds Iron Fittings Factory "H. Simons & Co." on the outskirts of the town of Rheda with a railway siding track to the Berlin-Hanover-Ruhr area railway route. The production of window and door steel rings with loose and fixed pins as well as butt hinges and corner plates starts in the same year.
