The Lancasters apartments combine lavish contemporary living with Victorian style and not surprisingly therefore the project required classic design conscious architectural ironmongery with exceptional technical performance. London’s leading Architectural Ironmongers John Planck Ltd had no hesitation in specifying the multi-award winning TECTUS door hinges from leading manufacturer SIMONSWERK. In total over 1,500 TECTUS door hinges in a bright nickel plated finish have been supplied to this luxurious property development adding to the already outstanding reputation SIMONSWERK UK have secured in the residential, leisure and commercial building sector. The Lancasters in Bayswater was originally an elegant French Renaissance style terrace of 15 magnificent stucco-fronted grade 2 listed houses dating from the mid nineteenth century. The restoration by London developers Northacre PLC and Minerva, Architects Nilsson Ltd and Interior Designers Intarya is due for completion in summer 2011 and boasts 77 properties including 10 penthouses and 2 town houses with over 800 windows and 1650 doors.

“DOOR OPENING AT SAVOY”

The re-opening in October of London’s prestigious Savoy Hotel, following an ambitious 3 year restoration, encompasses new interiors designed by world renowned Pierre Yves Rochon. The project required architectural ironmongery of the highest standards of performance and appearance and Architects Reardon Smith, in collaboration with leading London hardware contractor FRANCHI plc, selected SIMONSWERK door hinges. In total over 5,000 pairs of ball race solid brass CE marked button tip hinges have been fitted making this hotel project one of the most important and outstanding ironmongery installations in the UK. The 268 guest bedrooms include a luxurious new Royal Suite and 38 suites with stunning views over the river Thames - all fitted with SIMONSWERK hinges.

TECTUS – THE NEXT GENERATION

SIMONSWERK UK have introduced a new generation of their award winning fully concealed TECTUS range of hinges. TE 240, 340, 540 & 640 3D options, specifically designed for quality residential and heavy duty doors are distinguished by convenient continuous height adjustment which enables the achievement of a perfect even gap between the door and frame providing hassle free door alignment and efficiency. The TE 540 & 640 3D A8 versions allow for door claddings up to 8mm to enable designers to create new styles with, for example, mirror or laminate door elements within specific interior concepts.
